Born on October 27th 1989, Isabella Cruz-Chong is an interdisciplinary artist and designer raised in Tijuana, Mexico and based in New York City. Her work primarily comes from her experience of growing up constantly crossing the international border between Tijuana, Mexico and San Diego, California. At the beginning of her career, she primarily worked with visual communication and photography to investigate themes such as immigration, cultural differences and feelings of separation. Now, with a desire to blur boundaries between divisive perspectives around the world, she works with new technologies to create tools and experiences that foster self-awareness and facilitate open, fearless communication. Her work has been showed at the Sullivan Galleries and Betty Rymer Gallery in Chicago and the Hospital Gregorio Marañon in Madrid. She received her BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and is currently a candidate for the Master of Fine Arts Design & Technology program at Parsons The New School for Design.
